Knowledge Bomb #11: Collaborate with others to build your portfolio

I often speak to designers who are new in their career or transitioning into UX. Because they are lacking in experience, they don’t have many projects in their portfolio. One way of getting more projects and gaining experience is to collaborate with others to create projects.

A great way to do this is to find engineers to collaborate on a project with. Working with an engineer will give experience of how to prepare your designs for an engineer to pick up and start coding. It will also give you experience working with a person who thinks differently to you, allowing you to gain skills and an understanding of working with engineers who are people you will be working with closely when you start working.
